Our FAQs
Our pottery studio frequently receives questions about our classes and studio policies. To help answer some of the most common questions, we have put together a list of Frequently Asked Questions. You can find the answers to questions about class fees, studio hours, class sizes, and more. For any additional questions, feel free to contact us and a member of our team will be happy to help.
-
When is the studio open? Our studio opening times can be found at the following link: https://codsallhive.co.uk/contact-us#openingtimes We really look forward to seeing you 😊
-
How long does it take until our pottery is ready? All painted ceramics need to be glazed then fired in our on-site kiln. As the kiln can only be fired twice a week we generally operate on a 10-14 day turnaround, so pottery will join a queue for firing and most likely be ready ten days later although we won't guarantee it until 14 days after your visit.
-
Will you call me when the pottery is ready? No, due to the volumes we handle we cannot call everyone. We will only call you if there is a problem during the firing process so no news is good news! Just come back two weeks after your visit to collect your pieces.
-
I can't come back two weeks later is that a problem? No we keep all pottery for a standard 6 months after your visit, you don't need to let us know we will keep it safe. If you can't make it within 6 months why not call us and pay for shipping.
-
I need my pottery quicker than two weeksWe do offer an express firing fee of £5 per item to speed your items through our firing process however to save money we recommend booking your visit well ahead of when you need your items back.
-
Do we have to book to visit? We always recommend booking but we also accept drop-ins subject to space in the cafe. To be sure we can accommodate your group click the Book Pottery Painting button on the website or give us a call. School holidays and weekends can be very busy especially if the weather is inclement.

What can we do in the cafeCheck out our 'Everyday Activities Menu' in the Cafe section for the full list of what creative activities we offer in the cafe all day everyday. Pottery painting is the most popular activity but we also have a number of other activities that are suitable for younger visitors including clay play and cutting and sticking. All our activities are easy to understand and come on a tray to be enjoyed at your table under adult supervision. You can order food and drink to enjoy while you craft.

Where can we park?Unfortunately The Codsall Hive does not have a customer car park however there is on street parking outside, a free car park directly across the road from us and the Coop car park a five minute walk away. Please do not park on the car park behind the cafe as this does not belong to us and you may well incur a parking fine.
